Nineteen of the Russian's 21 titles have been won on hard courts

A revitalized Daniil Medvedev secured his initial championship for over two years with victory over Frenchman Moutet in the tournament title decider.

The Russian, a former number one, has had a challenging year, achieving just one match at the Grand Slams and suffering a difficult moment at the US Open.

The player's varied form on the tennis tour - and issues with his service game in specific - caused him exiting of the top ten and ultimately parting ways with long-term trainer Cervara.

Now working with his coach and Rohan Goetzke, the tennis star has gradually progressed in the last few weeks - climaxing in a hard-fought three-set win over Frenchman Corentin Moutet.

It is his initial championship following the Italian tournament and initial on a hard surface after March of that year.

Victory also means Medvedev has achieved twenty-one championships at 21 distinct events.

"For the first time I have attended a competition with my two daughters together, so to get a championship is especially meaningful," stated ranked player the champion.

"This victory is in tribute of my child Victoria, because the maiden victory I got when my child her name was born was for her."

Medvedev, the 2021 US Open champion, had lost his last six finals, including in that event in the past months.

The player's defensive strategy and frequent outbursts on the tennis court had prompted some to wonder if his skill to perform at the top level was finished.

Yet the player has altered his approach in the past month, attempting to advance forward and compete positively, reinforced by an improved service.

He came back from a disadvantage in the first set against the challenging Frenchman, winning four of the concluding five exchanges to go ahead.

Both players traded break points in the following set before the Frenchman, striving for his maiden ATP Tour championship, took control to create a final set.

Moutet saved 4 early-game break points in a competitive deciding set before Medvedev broke to fifteen to secure the win.

Suitably, the winner clinched the title with a rally at the front of the court, with his opponent unable to handle a volley after a lengthy match.
