PSG Edges Marseille on Penalties to Claim Trophee des Champions Super Cup in Kuwait.

PSG players celebrating

The Parisian club has now secured the prestigious cup on fourteen different times.

Paris Saint-Germain needed a dramatic leveler followed by a perfect penalty shootout to overcome Marseille in Kuwait and secure a record-extending fourth consecutive French Super Cup victory.

The European champions seemed to be coasting towards a comfortable triumph in the showdown between the French league champions and the Coupe de France holders after the French winger found the net in the opening stages.

Yet, Marseille struck twice in the closing moments to seize a surprise advantage. First, Mason Greenwood scored from the penalty spot, before the defender unfortunately directed the ball into his own net for an own-goal.

In a breathtaking turn of fortune, the Portuguese striker grabbed a vital leveler in the final seconds to send the contest into a deciding shootout. PSG goalkeeper Chevalier then stood as the key figure, saving decisive attempts from O'Riley and Traore.

In the shootout, Goncalo Ramos, Vitinha, the full-back, and Desire Doue all converted successfully for PSG to complete a 4-1 shootout victory.

The record champions Paris Saint-Germain, who faced last season's Ligue 1 runners-up Marseille after completing a domestic double, have now lifted this trophy for the twelfth time in the past thirteen seasons.
